My current favorite products:
Throughout the years, I have perfected my skincare routine and have honed my makeup skills, but my hair is a department I was not able to control. I have struggled with styling my hair, constantly battling frizz, lack of volume, and an overall no sense of direction. Post washing my hair, by the time it air-dried I found myself resembling an aggressive feline, hair standing up in all directions. Typically, I’d resort to sweeping it back into a bun or pulling it into a “chic” messy braid. Dreaming of that iconic Cindy Crawford 90s blowout, I decided it was time to experiment with different hair products.
A little bit about my hair: I have pretty fine, color-treated hair. Over the past few years, through much trial and error, I have discovered a handful of products that have truly transformed my hair care routine. When testing out products, my three key results I was looking for are moisture, time-saving, and potentially replacing a trip to the salon. Each product has been tried and tested for at least six months, and I can confidently say they have transformed my hair. 1. Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil
I started using this when I noticed my hairline started thinning. I use about 4-6 drops and massage it into my scalp. I’ll keep this in for at least 45 min and sometimes will keep it in for up to four hours. I have already noticed my baby hairs starting to grow out!
2. Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub
Just like how you need to exfoliate any impurities and dead skin off your body you should be doing this for your scalp as well. The Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub gently deep cleans any clogged pores to stimulate healthy hair growth; it also promotes circulation. I’ll follow it with my favorite shampoo and conditioner. Which leads me to my next product!
3. Ouai Fine Hair Shampoo & Conditioner
I absolutely love the Ouai Fine Hair Shampoo & Conditioner. It contains keratin, biotin, and chia seed oil, which makes it the ultimate pair for those who have color-treated hair and are prone to some split-ends and breakage like me. I give this duo a five start just because it is sulfate free and doesn’t strip your hiar of its natural oils. You won’t regret buying this if your hair needs a little help in the volume department.
4. Trader Joe’s Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Mask
Sometimes when I need a little additional moisture for my hair (especially in the dry winter months) I use the Trader Joe’s Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Mask. Usually I wouldn’t think to find a holy grail item at a grocery store but believe me when I tell you this is so moisturizing and makes my hair so soft. I can’t recommend it enough! 5. Leonor Greyl – Sérum De Soie Sublimateur
This product delivers on so many things all in one magical potion. It is a nourishing and protective hair serum that combats frizz (the bane of my existence) and moisturizes without weighing my hair down. I’ll use about 3 pumps and distribute evenly through my damp hair post hair wash and it leaves my locks soft and weightless.
6. Color Wow Dream Coat
In my constant search of anti-frizz products, I have never been so blessed to be introduced to the Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray. My hairdresser used this product on me and I was shocked by the results. I had to know what voodoo in a bottle she had applied and immediately purchased it myself. It not only minimizes frizz but it also leaves my hair so glossy. If you’re looking for the ultimate salon-worthy blowout, look no further.
7. Olaplex Nº.7 Bonding Oil
Raise your hand if you have heard of Olaplex? (everyone raises their hand) I’m not surprised! This brand has become somewhat of an icon in the hair care world. I started using the Olaplex Bonding Oil about 6 months ago and it has made my top favorite hair products. I love this product because it does not weigh down my fine hair like some other hair oils do. It provides incredible shine and minimizes frizz. What’s not to like?!
